No one wants to be sitting outside on a crisp fall night with a mixed drink on ICE? Instead plug in that slow cooker, put up your feet or get some chores done around the house while making your guests this yummy hot toddy recipe without the fuss of a kettle or saucepan. So I also found the perfect sweetener for this recipe. Torani's Bourbon Caramel syrup! Perfect, right? And less messy than honey.

If you're looking for a good mixed drink for after your Thanksgiving dinner this is it! Just set it and forget it!
My husband and I used to always make hot toddies for friends but having to entertain while also keeping an eye on a boiling pot can be less than fun. Instead make your drinks a head of time and have your guests serve themselves. Then gather and enjoy some got toddies on a crisp November night.
What's your favorite hot mixed drink beverage? Perhaps a coffee drink? Would it too benefit from a splash of Torani syrup? It's great because it's made with real, simple ingredients like pure cane sugar and natural flavors. Torani allows people to connect with friends and family by sharing their flavor discoveries. Torani is a perfect way to add some flavor to your favorite beverages this holiday season.

Just head over to your local Walmart and look in their coffee isle. That's where I found my syrups. I bought these two sugar free syrups at a Walmart in a nearby town and the Salted Caramel and the Bourbon Caramel ones at my closest Walmart. All flavors will work with this recipe but I do recommend the Bourbon Caramel if you can find it! Also....toasted caramel works just as well!

Ingredients:
1 Gallon apple cider
4 Cinnamon sticks
50 whole cloves
1 sliced apple
1 sliced lemon
1 cup of fresh cranberries
1.25 cups of Bourbon caramel Torani Syrup
1 cup of lemon juice
6.5 cups of bourbon whiskey

Directions:
In your slow cooker combine all ingredients except for the whiskey. Let simmer on low for 2 hours.

Change your slow cooker setting to warm and wait 15 minutes. Now add your whiskey and have your guests ladle the liquid and garnish into their cups. Then simply enjoy!

Could I keep it "virgin" and then have each guest add (or not add) their own preferred amount of alcohol? Also do you recommend any other type of alcohol used in this recipe or is whiskey the best?

@Emily SeltzerHah! Emily HEY! Of course you can keep it virgin! Really you don't even need to add it to the mix at all. You can just have your guests add their own amount after they've poured their slow cooker mix in their glasses. The only thing you shouldn't do is add it while it's cooking otherwise it will probably just burn off;-P

Also, I've seen other people use rum or brandy.
