Pinwheel Shorts Free Pattern in Cobalt Damask

August 30, 2016

I'm so ready for summer. Walking barefoot. Tee shirts. Tank tops. And SHORTS! Just like uncomfortable jeans, there are uncomfortable shorts. The kind that hurt your lady parts. Sorry to be blunt but you know what I mean!

GET THE FREE PATTERN HERE!
I like wearing elastic, loose-legged shorts in the summer but I don't like looking as though I'm wearing men's boxers. I want cute shorts that I can wear to the grocery store! Kayaking. Even dare say, a casual summer dinner party. You too? Well look no further I think I found the shorts for us!

Cactus Stones Kids Craft

August 23, 2016

Out of the blue Lily made these cute little cactus stones. She was bored last Sunday and found this cute little craft on Pinterest. The best part about this project was that we had all the supplies on hand. Just paint, river rocks from our yard and a small pot. DONE! The other nice part was that it was simple enough that she could do it on her own while I did chores. She did these all by herself! And I think they came out super adorable!
To make just gather some flat river rocks, paint them various shades of green using green paint mixed with various amounts of white, then decorate with white paint. We used white paint pens which work well for smaller details. Fill a pot with small pebbles until nearly full. Add your stone cacti. Then fill in with more small pebbles to hold cacti in place. Place on your desk and admire;-)

Finally AFFORDABLE IKEA sofa slipcovers

August 9, 2016

Our IKEA Karlstad sectional had seen better days. The slipcover I once loved was embarrassingly filthy and no amount of washing would help it recover. It had just met one too many chocolate milk stains as well as an unfortunate bleaching pen incident. Besides all that, the gray now clashed with the walls of our new living room. I looked into purchasing a new slipcover from IKEA which we had done once before but to my disappointment I found that the Karlstad series was being phased out! Oh no! Was I going to have to buy a whole new sofa? I had been so spoiled getting away with simply buying new slipcovers.
I looked into buying a new IKEA sectional. The closest thing I found was the Landskrona which would cost me $1,800! Ugh. Rather than buy an entire new sofa I began looking into other options. I found a few online stores that offered IKEA slipcovers but their prices were too high. I wasn't willing to spend $800 on a slipcover for a USED sofa! That's when I came across Linda Lee's Store. They offer Karlstad slipcovers (and other IKEA sofa series current and discontinued) for LESS than they what IKEA sold them for and in more colors and fabrics than IKEA offered! Boom! Game changer.

Rainbow Pretzel Sticks

August 4, 2016

Yesterday, the kids, Brian and I made homemade pretzels via Auntie Ann's box kit. But we decided to do a little twist and add food coloring to risen dough. Summer is nearly ending and I wanted to celebrate what was left with this summery "twist".

You could make so many fun things with rainbow pretzels. Make a rainbow with the dough strips. Make red Valentine's pretzels in the shape of a heart. Make St. Patrick's day pretzels in the shape of a shamrock. Make fourth of July red, white and blue pretzels sticks. Really, just think of a holiday and there's probably a colored pretzel to go with it;-)

How-To
Follow the instructions on your Auntie Ann's pretzel kit and stop just before you are to soak the dough in the baking soda water. If you don't have an Auntie Ann's kit just use this soft pretzel recipe.

Then Step 1: I bought a McCormick food coloring kit which is probably pretty common in most grocery stores. It came with only yellow, green, blue and red. To make purple I used a little ceramic cup and per the instructions on the box, mixed the correct amount of drops for purple and orange.

The Girl's New Study Spaces

August 2, 2016

These World Market blue evie chairs are just what this space ordered. I bought 2, one for Molly's corner and one for Lily's corner. They 100% match and fit PERFECTLY with the color scheme and look of the room.
