Participating in Project Sewn!

February 3, 2014

I know I haven't been sewing much at all lately. So when the girls over at Project Sewn asked if I wanted to participate in their next season I was thinking it was just the push I needed. So this month I'll be participating all month long in their weekly challenges! Please check out my site and their site tomorrow and see what I come up with for week one and then vote for your favorite designer! I'll also be trying to offer patterns for all the clothes I'll be making for the month. If you sew you can also participate with all the other designers!

Check out the other designers participating in the month as well!

This first week we have to create an outfit based upon our favorite fashion icon. I choose Ulyana Sergeenko. She is a Russian stylist, photographer, blogger, occasional fashion model and designer. She's married to Russian insurance billionaire Danil Khachaturov, has two children and recently started her own fashion brand. Quite impressive bio there, right? She tends to dress in very long, nostalgic pieces. The look is very dramatic and always beautiful. Here's a little hint as to what I'll be doing....kind of vague I know.
Here are the following challenges throughout the month:

Week #2 (Feb.10) --Make It Pink: from rose, fuchsia, to blush, bubblegum, or neon---think pink! (and your style of course)

Week #3 (Feb. 17)--"If the shoe fits" Challenge: use a favorite pair of shoes from your own closet (or some new ones for Christmas!) as an inspiration for your outfit

Week #4 (Feb.24)-- Signature Style week:  Make something that is your strength as a seamstress and unique to your style!

I'm so glad you chose Ulyana Sergeenko! She's new to me, but I love her style, and have gone a little nuts pinning images of her work. Since we're having such a hard winter, I'm also really grateful you're not following the commercial craziness of 'holidays over, now think spring!' when even in the South, we expect two more months of freezing temps.

I can't wait to see what you make!

I'm so excited to see what everyone made. I think this year is going to be a great challenge. There are so many talented and creative seamstresses.
