Automatic Pin Dispenser: Brilliant!

December 28, 2012

I bought myself a little pre-Christmas gift on Christmas eve. I saw this in the discount bin at JoAnn Fabric and figured no one would even know to get it for me so decided on treating myself. It's an automatic pin dispenser and the verdict is FABULOUS.
It's a little large for a pin container but it's totally worth the sacrifice in space. I was always knocking my little open container of pins over while I worked and they were awful to pick up. Not to mention how I'd always leave one behind for Henri to find later. The Pintastic keeps all my pins safe in the machine and dispenses them one by one when I need them. Just takes a couple AA batteries.
It's a discontinued item so it won't be available forever. But it's still on sale at Hancock Fabric for only $14.99! I paid $24.99 for mine at JoAnn's. I tried to get them to do a price match but it was a NO GO since clearance items don't apply along with a laundry list of other things which is a bit irritating. But I bought it anyway because I had a lot of sewing to do and I didn't want to wait for the Hancock one to ship out.

If you also have a problem with stray pins I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the review, sounds like a great product. I tried to order it on Hancock and it is out of stock online. I may go to the store and check for it.

Personally I wouldn't buy it...not very practical...it's faster to take out pins together. Then you need to put pins back in all together...so in the meantime you still have them lying around. Plus the loading and barrel turning seemed to take forever...imagine doing it several times...Let us know if you like it.

@Sewing PrincessI will say that you don't have to put them in all at once. I just leave the machine lid open and put them back in one by one like I used to do with my ceramic bowl.

I've only used it once but so far I like it. But mostly because the stray pins in my house were a BIG issue. Before my little ceramic bowl I used a pin cushion and even the cushion was attractive to the babies. But especially the bowl of pins;)

With the Pintastic Henri can't just reach down and pick up a pin. They're enclosed in the machine so that alone is reason enough for me. I mean, it's not COMPLETELY baby proof of course, but it's better than what I had before.

But if you don't have really tiny babies then maybe this isn't for you. Like I said, it's kinda big and does take batteries. But for me, it works.

Hope that helps:-)
