Homemade Pixie Sticks Tutorial

January 5, 2012

I have an addiction to sugar. I eat it ALL THE TIME and never the artificial kind. It looks a little strange to see a grown woman eating pixie sticks on her own without any kids to be seen nearby. Whenever we go to amusement parks I'm always buying the giant sized ones. One for the kids to share and one for me all by myself. It's probably something I should be ashamed of. But I saw this on Pintrest and would love to try. They're made from freeze dried fruit. Get the tutorial at Shindig Parties TO GO!
Would possibly make a great Valentine's treat for the kids at school?

i love sugary treats too!
especially sour stuff!
when my kids go trick or treating and i go through their candy, i take out all the sour patch kids and fuzzy peaches, etc.
they have no idea...
and i feed my addiction.
ha ha!
you're not alone! :)

I love this!! Ive been following your blog for over a year and love it! I actually just moved to Philly a few months ago and am terrible disappointed with this so call "fabric row" I make trips to NYC for fabrics but was wondering since you appear to be from PA if there are any good fabric stores- I found Fabric Mart online somewhere near Reading PA - Im willing to drive but would really love some suggestions!! Thank you so much!

@Ruby MinesI've been to fabric row in Philly as well and was also underwhelmed. I'm not from Philly so my knowledge of fabric store in PA is probably more limited to the central region but I can tell you a little about what I've discovered.

I've been to Mood and B&J in New York too and it had some really great stuff but was of course WAY overpriced. I don't think you're going to find anything like that here at least not that I know of. B&J was my favorite. Had everything I wanted but for $40 a yard! Yikes! No way.

I go to the PA Fabric outlet here in Lemoyne where I live, there's also one in Lancaster. They have a good selection of random things. Not a lot of patterned cotton but wool and trims and off beat stuff for very little cost.

Lancaster (Amish Country) has some good shops. But they are all scattered and really hit or miss. But if you're in the Amish Country area, there's a dutch owned fabric warehouse in Goodville called the Goodville Fabric outlet that had a really good selection of knits and other off beat materials. I've also gone to Sauder's in Denver, PA. It's also a dutch owned fabric store in the basement of a house but it has some good patterned fabric.

In terms of finding something all in one place, I've yet to discover something like that in PA. If you ever do please let me know too!

I also have an addiction to sugar and i try not to bake anything that has sugar or else i eat it all!! but I have this obsession about the French Macarons! I have tried to make at least 7 batches and have failed at least half the time! They still taste great but they do not always look like those georgous ones you find in specialty French stores!! Gotta love sugar and chocolate!
Check out the picture i took of my first macarons that i succeeded in making!
