I LOVE fishtail braids. my mom used to do my hair in them all the time! I lived in them last summer, but now got my haircut & it's too short for one. :(

I have always wanted a fishtail braid! I remember seeing them when I was little and begging my mom to do it for me but she didn't know how. I just did one while watching your tute! My first fishtail braid! lol I love the idea and I'd love love love to see more!
This is too funny. I did a Google search this morning for how to do a fishtail braid and found instructions on another site. Then when I opened my Google Blog Reader, your post was the first one I saw. Great minds think alike, I guess!
Love the tutorial, thank you for sharing!
I love hair tutorials ^^ Yours is great, I'll try it tomorrow morning ! Thanks :)
OMG, when I was in elementary school there was this girl who had a fishtail braid in her hair every day. I was so envious as my mother had no idea what the heck I was talking about when I would ask her to do one in my hair. Oooooh memories.
I love fishtails! My mom used to do them for me when I was little and then I learned to do them on my friends' hair. Now I often use it to the side like you showed in the video.
Thanks for sharing! I'd love to see more things like this in your blog :)
I want that hair color in the second photo. WANT.
these are all so pretty.
Great instruction! If only my hair were about 8 inches longer!
Love the hair tutorials! I have long hair and it always feels so boring. Love the new ideas!
I've been seeing the fishtail everywhere and wanted to know how to do it - unfortunately I think my hair may be too short, and too fine. But I'm going to give it a try and see if I can make it work. Thanks for the tutorial
I've been wondering how to do these! Thanks so much will definitely be giving it a try! Would love to see more things like this on your blog :)
Love it! You were right, I thought it was going to be so difficult, so I haven't ever attempted it, but know that I know how easy it is I think I will give it a try tomorrow. Thank you!
I think of your blog as a blog all about fashion, so I think hair is definitely a part of fashion. I love all of your tutorials.
Thanks for the video! I'll have to try this sometime.
Thanks!! I have been wondering how to do this braid!
Love it
This is most certainly my cup of tea! I've tried to recreate every hair style you've put up so far(I got so many complements on my braided-top bun! Thank you so much for the idea). And like you, I've been scared to try a fish tale, I guess I'll have to give it a chance now. Please keep these lovely hair styles coming!
Hi Kathleen, thanks for the tutorial! I will definitely try this, and I've also tried some of the other hair ideas you've posted so would love to see more! My preference is for photo tutorials with captions. They're so quick and easy to view - and silent! That means I can have a sneaky peek at work, haha, or at home I can look at them without my kids rushing over saying "what are you watching" as soon as they hear sound. Just my opinion for what it's worth, although it was nice to hear your voice :-)
Thank you so much!! I have always wanted to learn how to do that. I even went to beauty school and never learned. Thank you so much!! You are wonderful!!!!
Pretty, pretty, pretty!!! I love this. I remember when I was a kid my grandmother saw directions in her newspaper and mailed it to my mom to do my hair like that. I remember it taking FOREVER!! This is so much better. I'm doing this tomorrow. Keep going with the tutorials like this. I love doing new, fun things with my hair and makeup so I'd love to see your take on these things!
Love the video. I am going to try it on my daughter!
Thank you for sharing!
Love love the tutorial! I've always wondered how the fishtail braid was done.
Thank you! :o)
Loved the tutorial - keep 'em coming.
Now I just have to get my daughter to sit still long enough for me to braid her hair :)
yes love the tutorial keep doing it please, thanks for sharing. :)
i thought the tutorial was great. i'd love to see more. and i love fishtail braids!! when my daughter's hair was long, i would do them in her hair using the teeniest tiniest pieces and it always looked amazing. it's so fun when something looks fabulous and intricate, but is so so easy to do!
I love them. keep 'em coming! :) I love hair tutorials. It's so tough for me to come up with new things to do. Thanks.
Grrrrate tutorial!!! like the thumb thing!!!
Thank you so much for this! I've always wondered how fishtails work. I tried it out, and I linked back here from my blog. You can read the post here:

I love this -- I'm very bad at doing my hair, so tutorials are a lifesaver for me. The video format is my favorite, since it's as close to hands-on as you can get on the internet.
One comment -- I had my speakers @ max volume and had to strain a bit to hear your instructions. My computer speakers aren't the greatest, but I can't be the only one -- I have a MacBook. Anyway, if you could find a way to make the volume louder next time, that would be awesome. And I hope there IS a next time! Thanks!
Hi, I haven't commented on your blog before but I actually visit every so often, and I love your content. I just wanted to say that I think you did a good job with the hair tutorial. To be honest I think the fact that your hair was dirty probably made it shinier and easier to see, maybe if your going to do another similar tutorial wear a light colored top, or have some natural light if you can, so there is more contrast to see the details. But I think it was easy enough to see anyway. Other than that, great job with the tutorial and I would love to see more :)
@thedomesticationproject
Thanks for the tip! That is an easy fix with the software I use. I'll be sure to raise the volume with my next video.
love this tutorial - thanks! and i would love to learn how to do false eyelashes, i have contacts and have never been able to do them.
Thank-you for posting this I've always wanted to know how to do this. I went and braided my hair right after. It's been like this for 2 days. Hope their are more to come.

Wow..this brings back memories. I had hair down to the base of my back and after seeing how to do this braid in Glamour magazine about 1969...(whooo I'm old) I wouldn't wear anything else! So glad to see it again, thanks for sharing.
YAY! I love hair tutorials! Especially because I have no idea what I'm doing when it comes to my hair! I would love to see more beauty related tutorials from you-also, side note, I love your blog. You are clearly so talented and dedicated to what you do. =)
