Shoe Sugar Month: Day 5 Water Lilies and Wood

January 7, 2011

I love the look of white and brown together. So classic. So clean. I made these flowers out of plain white fabric.
I also used my Sizzix machine. But you don't have to have a fabric cutting machine to make the flower cutouts.
I think these shoes would look great with a simple bright white j.crew day dress like this one.
Since they are sort of summery I'll have to wait a couple months to wear them out.
But I think it will be worth the wait.
1. Cut out four plain white pieces of fabric.
 2. I used my Sizzix machine to make the flowers but you can cut them out yourself. Mine had four petals each and were about 2.5" wide in circumfrence. I made four different sizes from 2.5" to .5". Four flowers per size.
3. While the flowers are on top of each other make a slit to the center.
 4. To give the flower some dimension fold the right petal to the left side and hot glue in place. Do this for the rest of the flowers.
 5. Group them all together by size and sew together in the middle. Then hot glue all the sizes together.
 6. Cut out a felt circle.
 7. Hot glue circle to bottom of flower and hot glue alligator clip to bottom of felt circle.
 8. Spray with no-fray spray. DONE.

Anonymous,
Is that bad? Do you know what it is? It's just pain in the bladder with an unknown cause or reason. I'm sorry if that embarrassed you.

If you'd like to leave another comment I'd request that you leave your profile. It's cowardly not to.

I guess Anonymous prefers that you post free giveaways, and lengthy tutorials, and give advice, tips, and helpful feedback without being a real person who has real struggles and shares them with a group of generally caring and supportive readers....

Can you use no fray spray on internet trolls?
Beautiful shoe sugar! :)

No fray spray? I want some. Where do I get that from? I have stop fray gluey stuff. Spray would be easier!

They're beautiful! I love the white with the brown.

I'd love to know which Sizzix dies you're using. Isn't it a fun tool?

Very cool! I have THE cutest shoes that scream your name. Have you seen "Mohops"? They are a shoe base that you string ribbon through and make them into anything you want them to be. And they are totally comfortable. I'm going to love all your posts this month as they'll give me some great ideas for dressing up my Mohops!

Monique,
I get it at Hancock Fabric. If you don't have one near you, you can buy some here: No Fray Spray

i'm confused... when did you even mention interstial cyctistis? I reread today's post and can't find any mention of it until anonymous brought it up? Besides, it's no different than saying "I have diabetes," or "I had my gallbladder out." What's the big deal, anonymous? Thanks, Kathleen, for your inspiration and sharing!! I have a friend who suffers with IC and I know it can be discouraging. Hang in there!

Now that I can (sort of) sew, dresses don't tempt me as much if they cost a lot. However, these shoes are *exactly* the sort of thing that cause me to get tempted by the really expensive. These are super classy, and really unique. If I can duplicate the shoe sugar I'll feel like I've earned another 'Recessionista' badge =D

Thanks SO much for sharing this tutorial!!
