Sequin Heart Shoe Clip Tutorial

December 31, 2010

What better shoe to bring in the new year? All sparkly and light.

I made mine in under 10 minutes.

1. Cut a felt heart the size of the tip of your shoe.
2. Glue a string of sequins (which you can buy at Joann's) along the outside of the heart.

3. Spiral in until you reach the center and stop.
4. Add an alligator clip (which you can buy at Joann's also) or any other kind of clip to the felt backing at the bottom. Be sure it is close to the bottom so the heart will sit in the middle of your shoe. Test it before you glue. Ban.do turns the hearts in the opposite direction. It's your preference. I might be easier to center the hearts on the toes if you place it pointed side toward the toe.

Pair with a sparkly silver drapey dress and done!

If you prefer to purchase one of these you can buy this fancy set from ban.do!

Aw these look cute. But I have always wondered if the clips of shoe clips do not damage the shoes. Wouldn't like to ruin some some pretty mary janes or other pumps...

lin3arossa,
If you were worried about the clips damaging the shoes you could place a piece of felt between the clip and the shoe. That might work.

Very cute. I'd love to make these, but I'm afraid these supplies will be a bit harder to find here in Belgium.

You can buy special shoe clips- not alligator clips. I buy mine on Etsy.

I am going to have to make these for Valentine's day!

Alligator clips hurt my feet :( You can buy special shoe clip findings though! Cute sequis!

Really wonderful tutorial! I stumbled across it while searching Google for 'sequined hearts' after falling in love with a $25 pair of red sequined heart shoe clips from Ban.do that I just couldn't somehow justify buying! Now I'm going to make these! And after pricing the supplies on Hobby Lobby, found that I can make 12 PAIRS of shoe clips for $26!
