The next frock by friday is.....

July 29, 2010

Well, the votes are in and ANDA is the winner. Now before all who voted for the second idea start to cancel your following of my blog;) Just kidding. Hermione J. Schwartz had a GREAT idea....

We will do the Anda frock this month and the second frock for late August. I think this will be actually pretty perfect because the second one looks more like a fall frock. School is starting, skirts are longer. Plus, the Anda is more of a loose light summer frock so it will be great for late July.

I'm so excited! So go get the Anda pattern here. And we will start bright and early on Monday!

Oh and to get more involved use this button above on your blog. It will link to all the Frock by Friday Anda posts automatically.

And look for a Thrift Store Thursday post later this afternoon!

This will be the first dress for myself that I have made! I'm excited to get started.

what type of fabrics would you recommend looking for to make this dress?

this looks amazing Kathleen. I really love it's simplicity and it actually looks like something I would wear a lot and you can dress it up or down! yay!

Not sure if it's user error or what, but as I was trimming the margins off the Anda pattern, I noticed that the pages that contain 3a, 3b, 3c, and 3d are not printed the same as the rest... It looks like they printed in 'landscape'. I think I can work with it, but I just wanted to mention it!
Is it just me?

I've just bought & downloaded the Anda Dress pattern from BurdaStyle.com - but I am having problems printing off their PDF file for the instructions.

So, I raised a new "Discussion" on their website to highlight the problem to them :

I voted for the second option, so I'm glad we're doing it in August -- but I'm excited about the Anda, too. Originally I thought it was boring, but the more I've thought about it, the more I've gotten intrigued about all the creative possibilities!

I'm definitely in on this round! Bought the pattern this morning, have the perfect fabric in my stash - now headed for the laundry - fixed up a post on my blog and added the button to my side bar.

Totally stoked about next month's FBF, too. LOVE the blouse pattern, and the gears are really turning with possibilities for a great Back-to-School dress.

Thanks!

I'm having trouble with grabbing the button. Where is the HTML code?

I second the request for fabric choices :)

Wahoo! Anda pattern purchased and printed. (I did have some trouble with the instructions, too. I wonder if all the downloads are jamming them up a bit.)

I'm pretty sure I have the right fabric in my stash, but would like to know what others are using or, at least some type of fabric ideas. =]

Re: My previous comment -
I reprinted pages 10-13 and chose 'auto-rotate and center'. This fixed the problem.

Also, I didn't have any issue downloading or printing the instructions on my end.

Just got a faaaaaaantastic border print fabric on eBay for $2.49 a yard! YAY! Hope it comes by Monday! I second PatternJunkie - I'm excited about this one now. :)

I've been tempted to join in on the FBF for awhile now and finally feel like I may be ready. This dress seems doable and right up my alley...but I'm having trouble with what kind of fabric to use. Any fabric recommendations for a beginner sewing? What will be easiest to work with? Help!

I've watched the last two FBFs and not had the confidence to try. I'm going to give it a go this time around. I found some beautiful polyester charmeuse from Joann's on clearance. I hope it's not too tricky to work with...it'll be stunning if it turns out!

So I think I'm ready to join this FBF...my big challenge will be enlarging the size (huge grading project :)). I'm excited for the support though. Can't wait!!!

I think you should look at these free dress patterns for frock by Friays, some of them look really nice and I believe the patterns are free!
(this isn't a gimmick I am a real person)

Just a thought!! And thanks for all the work you put into your frock tutorials!!

This is my first time downloading a pattern. I printed it out on my standard computer printer paper. Now I need to go to a copy shop. How much should I have it enlarged by? I have no idea and would appreciate it if someone could email me at zetaku_1999@yahoo.com. Thank you!

Hi, Looking forward to joining in, I'm desperate for a new project and this is perfect!

Can you help me though, I've no idea how to add the button to my blog!

Unknown said... Best Blogger Tips

@Annonymous...If you take it to Kinkos, they will enlarge it for you. There is a 4" test square that they use on the pattern.
@mrsbutters...I had trouble too and had to add it by copying the picture, adding the picture to my blog and in that window you can add a web address. Just copy the web address for this FBF.

Now on to my problem....Ive never sewn a burda design and cant figure out how to get my size from the size chart...seems real vagur. Anyone know how? Im using the size chart on the pattern that I printed out

Unknown said... Best Blogger Tips

nevermind...I found the sizing chart on the website. THanks!

Thank you to the commenter who advised about taking the pattern to Kinkos and having them use the 4inch test square. I'm sorry to say but I don't know exactly how the test square figures in. I'm thinking to tell the Kinkos person to enlarge it by 400%. I'm 5'1" tall, a 34B and weigh 115 pounds. Many thanks for any other guidance you can give me!
