Hi,

I love Grosgrain.

I tried to suggest a story, but it would not accept my url; I think it must be because it ends in .net rather than .com, but it is a legitimate url.

Hi, Kathleen-
I enjoy seeing what you do each day and I've been inspired make and embellish my own clothes. I wanted to share something that I tried tonight that worked and might help you and some of your readers. I bought a shirt at Goodwill that I really liked. It was just an '80's polyester blouse but it had a sexy secretary vibe and was red with a cool black graph paper pattern and cool pleating down the front. Unfortunately, I didn't try it on (I know!) and being a busty gal it pulled across the chest and this made the cool pleating stand up at attention. Not cute. It fit perfectly everywhere else. I decided to try cutting out the back panel and replacing it with something with stretch to give just a smidge more room. I had seen a few blouses and tanks online and in stores with solid fronts and lace backs. I thought a stretch black lace could be a cool contrast and I could wear a tank underneath for modesty. Of course, I couldn't find any stretch lace at Hobby Lobby so a bought a 1/2 yard of "travel" black knit. I cut the back out carefully along the seams, used this piece as a pattern to cut out the new stretch piece adding a seam allowance and maybe just a bit more, sewed the new back in place, hemmed the bottom edge, and done! Gives the girls just the room they needed and the pretty pleating now stays down like it should. From the back it gives the appearance of a vest. If I put a cardi or jacket you wouldn't be able to tell at all. I still want to try another one with stretch lace but I'm going to have to make a trip to the next town over. Hopefully, you can try this and it will work for you. Take care!

Hi Kathleen,
So I just tried to "suggest a story" about fabric covered belt buckles, but I wasn't actually suggesting the link I submitted. The link is not very helpful at all, actually! And therein lies the problem... I can't find any helpful information on how to cover a belt buckle with fabric to go with a vintage style dress. I would be incredibly thankful if you could do a tutorial on this. If there is a way to do it without buying a kit, that would be even better. I have a beautiful green vintage dress that came with a matching fabric belt that I lent to a friend. The friend had it dry cleaned and the cleaners totally ruined the belt! The dress just doesn't look right without a belt and it's been hanging in my closet torturing me for years. You have a way of making things so simple... I would love to see you do this. Thanks!
P.S. Is there a way to send messages directly to you? Sorry, I couldn't find a place that seemed more appropriate to post this message :)

I was looking for a way to email you, but this is the closest I could find. I love your blog and have tried to follow it on my google reader however, your posts show up in my reader with the words and ads instead of your pictures. This is frustrating and unhelpful since I seeing what you are posting about is half the post! Am I the only one with this problem? I have unsubscribed and re-subscribed several times to no avail. I have to delete your blog from my reader since I don't care to read only ads! Is there a way around this? Thanks! Rachel
