Goodbye 85°. Hello 22°.

September 28, 2010

I don't look forward to the Pennsylvania winters mostly because it means being cold ALL THE TIME! It's no secret, I don't like to wear pants. It's not that I find them unflattering, although that's tricky too, it's mostly because I find them really uncomfortable. Be bootcut, cropped, relaxed or skinny (especially skinny) I really don't like to wear them unless they've got the word sweat in them. It's most because of my IC.

For this reason I've been thinking about what I'm going to wear this coming winter. I think I'm going to wear a lot of tights. They've really made a comeback recently. Maybe even, dare I say....legwarmers? But let me clarify, I'm not going to wear tights I'm looking for thigh highs. Tights are almost as uncomfortable as pants, if not more so.

What do you think? A pair of woolen thigh highs with this dress, an embellished sweater, a knit hat and maybe some legwarmer spats? I think that could be cute.

Indeed, this must be very cute. But please, you have to promise that you won't adopt harem pants or jeggings as your next best friends!!!

I like that the sequin skirts is matched with flat shoes and leg warmers !
I love tights, all colors, and this because I love dresses and can't imagine wearing pants during wintertime !

I've wondered about thigh-highs too. Tights can be very uncomfortable, but I worry that thigh-highs a) won't keep me warm enough, b) will not fit over my big thighs and c) will be visible from the skirt (meaning I don't want the tops to show at all).

Love the idea of the outfit, but not sure about the legwarmers.

I'm loving the tights/thigh highs/leg warmers right now! I say go for it! You only live once and might as well be comfy!!

I just ordered the black with pink bows pair, thanks for the rec Deliriumsama! I've been racking my brain trying to figure out how to avoid uncomfy tights this winter.

I also hate pants! I very, very rarely find pants that fit, as most aren't made for big thighs/hips, and thus I end up with pants too big in the waist to accommodate everywhere else. Not to mention pants tends to squeeze my insides when I sit, which I find very uncomfortable. The only pants I have ever found that I love were from Urban Outfitters in 2005. They are knit, wide leg pants, a lot like some yoga pants I have seen. For the most part, wearing them feels like wearing a skirt but with added warmth. If Urban Outfitters ever brought those back, I would snatch them up in every color available!

Because of my hatred of pants, I tend to wear a lot of tights in the winter. Because of my big thighs, I don't find thigh highs to be very comfortable. If they aren't digging into my legs and cutting off my circulation, I find myself constantly pulling them up, which is mighty unprofessional. Tights aren't perfect either, and often leave me adjusting myself as well, but they are at least warmer than thigh highs. I LOVE sweater tights, and buy them whenever I can find them in fun patterns for adults.

In fall, when it is too chilly to go bare-legged, but not quite cold enough for tights, I often wear knee highs. I find those in fun patterns all of the time. Sometimes I even wear them in the winter, as long as I am not outside for long.

I say no to leggings. At least on myself. I get the feeling you could pull them off well.

If I wore thigh highs I would have to wear my thermals underneath, there's no way I could leave some skin uncovered in the winter.

tights or over-the-knee socks with boots = my look for the winter i love the pic you posted above. i think the long socks work well with flats too, like in the picture.
