What will Cricut think of next?

May 7, 2010

There was a time when I got really into cake decorating. Like really into it.

This is what I made for Lily's first birthday.

With sewing on my plate, cake has had to take a backseat. But if I had this new machine I might just have to restructure my time to make it fit!

It precisely cuts frosting sheets and gum paste.

Imagine all the really cool things you could make to impress your friends!

That's an impressive cake! My daughter's first birthday was a total failure, so I sent my husband to go get an icecream cake last minute. I think I'm ordering cupcakes this year.

LOVE your cake!!! It's a pretty cool gadget! There's a lot of talk about the "legality" issues still so I think Cricut has a few "bugs" (heehee..no pun intended) to work out. Of course, a lot of bakers were already using their regular Cricut machine to do it thus the reason the Cake came out. :-)

I saw that in the Jo-Ann circular. I have a friend who does cake decorating, I think her husband would hate me if I showed it to her!

The funny part is that Cricut did not invent this idea, a crafty mom put out a video about how to use the regular cricut to cut fondant and gum paste long ago. I was wondering if ProvoCraft had to pay her a fee to capitalize on her brillant idea. I noticed they have upgraded the stainless steel to food grade, and moved the roller guides to the outside, I just wonder if this one could also cut paper. I certainly don't have room for 2 cricut machines.
