Hack This: Upholstered Footstool

May 17, 2012

Take either an IKEA Lack side table or coffee table and make a bench or footstool. If you were making a footstool you could always cut down the legs if it was too high. Right now, the green side table is only $7.99. Would look great matched with a green colored Amy Butler fabric. Depending on what you have on hand and what kind of fabric you want to use this project can be anywhere from $0-$53

Lack Table $9.99
Amy Butler Fabric $11.50 (shipping included)
Foam Core $15 (1" thick when doubled up); $24 (2" thick when doubled up) (both using 40% off coupon)
Polyfil $2.99 (with 40% off coupon)

Just glue or staple foam core to the top and sides, cover with fabric. Use upholstery nails to hold down fabric. You could even add tufts with buttons by stapling down the fabric and foam. Here are some image ideas to get you started.

Thanks so much for this! My husband and I have been looking to create an upholstered coffee table as a baby-friendly addition to our TV room. I put up a blog post about it recently and would like to link back to your page when we actually get it made!
